About Bekky Peterson
Being creative is in my blood. Between my grandpa drawing or building whirligigs, my dad’s doodling or unique solutions to household fixes, and my mom’s costuming and sewing, it seems like my siblings and I had plenty of artistic and creative energy around us.
Drawing is my favorite medium. Pencil and paper can go anywhere, provide the freedom to get an idea down quick, and yet be versatile enough to get through a complete drawing if things get that far. But experimenting with other mediums helps to keep me actively engaged in making something new. Whether it's painting (like my early attempts at ‘happy little trees’ à la Bob Ross) or embroidery (thanks to amazing dresses on Game Of Thrones) or even building out costume props for Halloween or just ‘cuz, it’s the making part of the process I find the most fun. Creating something literally by your own hands and working through drafts to physical attempt of piecing things together is rewarding.
I try to stay inquisitive. Explore, look for something new and interesting or magical in the every day. Inspiration can come from anywhere and translate into unexpected things. Sometimes a project is a challenge or fails or wasn’t quite as expected in the final outcome, but those times can lead to happy accidents or inspire another endeavor that has an even better artistic result.
